SENATOR BOXER ENDORSES MEASURE M
LOS ANGELES -- Senator Barbara Boxer today enthusiastically endorsed Measure M, the Los Angeles County Traffic Improvement Plan, citing its positive impact on infrastructure, air quality and quality of life.
"As I prepare to leave the Senate, I am strongly supporting Measure M because it will continue my commitment to improving California's infrastructure, air quality and quality of life for millions of people across L.A. County. I urge everyone in L.A. County to vote yes on Measure M," Senator Boxer said. "Passing Measure M will enable L.A. County communities to work with my successor to secure hundreds of millions of dollars in federal transportation infrastructure funding that would otherwise go elsewhere."

LOS ANGELES -- The L.A. City Council today unanimously voted to endorse Measure M, the Los Angeles County Traffic Improvement Plan. The plan is focused on easing congestion and reducing the time L.A. County residents are stuck in traffic.
"Measure M is an amazing opportunity to reduce traffic by revolutionizing the transportation system in Los Angeles," said Councilmember Mike Bonin, who serves on the Metro Board and is the Chair of the City Council's Transportation Committee. "From rail through the Sepulveda Pass, to the long overdue rail connection to LAX, to local street repair and improved service on rail and bus lines, Measure M makes game-changing transit projects possible."
“Supporting Measure M was an easy decision for the City Council," said City Councilmember and Metro Board Member Paul Krekorian, representing the East San Fernando Valley. "Right now, Angelenos spend 81 hours a year stuck in traffic, the most of any city in the nation. As our population grows, congestion will only get worse unless we do something about it today. Measure M is the long-term solution we need. It will ease traffic, create hundreds of thousands of jobs for local families, fill potholes and fix streets, expand our rail and bus system, and enhance bike and walking paths for everyone to enjoy.”

CARSON -- Measure M, the Los Angeles County Traffic Improvement Plan, won an unprecedented endorsement from AARP today.
"Measure M represents a rare and important opportunity to make all Los Angeles communities more livable and age-friendly. That's why AARP is proud, for the first-time ever, to actively endorse and campaign for a local ballot initiative," said Nancy McPherson, AARP California State Director, at today's event as a senior living apartment building in Carson.
Measure M will keep senior and disabled fares affordable and will invest in van and other services to keep senior and disabled residents across L.A. County living independently. In the coming years, L.A. County's over-65 population will total 2 million.

U.S. Rep. Alan Lowenthal, Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell and L.B. Mayor Robert Garcia Say M Delivers for Long Beach, South Bay, Ports and Entire County
LONG BEACH, September 7, 2016 — Congressman Alan Lowenthal, Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell and Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia today endorsed Measure M - The Los Angeles County Traffic Improvement Plan, calling it critical to improving the daily lives of their constituents and the movement of goods to and from the twin ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.
Measure M would ease congestion by building a 21st century transportation network across L.A. County, modernizing our aging transportation system and building more light rail, subway, Rapid Bus, Metrolink and better freeways and highways. Measure M will also deliver funding to each of L.A. County’s 88 cities for them to invest in their own local projects to fill potholes, improve intersections and signals, and repave roads.
“Measure M would give the Long Beach region the freeway improvements and transit access we need to get us to work on time, improve the flow of trucks going to and from our ports, and connect us faster and more conveniently with the rest of Southern California,” Congressman Lowenthal said. “Measure M will attract federal matching funds to accelerate projects in the Long Beach region that would otherwise go elsewhere. I strongly
endorse Measure M.”
